Functions of different directorates under the principal director general of income-tax (Administration)
A. The Income Tax Directorate (Public Relations, Printing Publications, and Official Language):-
(a) To implement the department's advertising campaign in print, internet media, and outdoor marketing to educate people about income tax regulations and statutory deadlines.
(b) The Directorate periodically produces publications for the internal use of the Income Tax Department and updates, prints, publishes, and disseminates them.
(c) It takes on the task of publishing booklets, brochures, and pamphlets for the Taxpayer Information Series that address a variety of tax-related topics.
(d) The task of implementing the Official Language Policy in the CBDT's subordinate and affiliated offices, as well as the work associated with inspections by the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, are handled by the Official Language Division under the DIT (PR, PP & OL).
(e) The following are additional duties allocated to the Directorate:-
(i) Serving as a Resource Center for the Tax Return Preparer Scheme
(ii) Evaluation of the Citizen's Charter for the Department of Income Tax, as well as its printing and distribution
(iii) Concerning the whole nation's APARs/ACRs of ITOs
(iv) The coordination of several initiatives under the 1% incentive programme.

B. Income Tax (Recovery) Directorate:-
(a) Monitoring the collection of current and area demand, reducing arrear demand, and gathering and aggregating data relevant to the recovery of tax arrears, particularly with regard to dossier instances of demand of Rs. 10 cr and above. Additionally, to analyze/identify the patterns and regions where additional action might hasten healing.
(b) Creation of a position analysis about "Demand not in dispute." Work done by the "Special Cell" includes processing write-off proposals for CCIT charges and keeping an eye on the Action Plan for the TRO.
(c) Processing of BIFR and AAAIFR cases for the purpose of providing relief or concessions under the Income Tax Act.

C. Income Tax Directorate (TDS):-
(a) The TDS Directorate was founded in 2007. Regarding all issues regarding Tax Deduction at Source, the Directorate coordinates and oversees the operation of 19 field offices of the Commissioners of Income Tax (TDS).
(b) The Directorate also coordinates and oversees the start of criminal prosecutions in the cases listed in the Central Action Plan. The majority of the budget is collected through TDS, and this Directorate helps the Board manage the TDS field offices effectively and efficiently.
(c) In order to address any complaints or suggestions regarding TDS laws, the Directorate arranges annual meetings with the stakeholders. Additionally, it holds twice-yearly conferences with the commissioners of income tax (TDS), which are presided over by a member (R), to discuss field offices' concerns about the implementation of TDS regulations as well as to address any questions they may have.
(d) Additionally, the Directorate analyses TDS collection and offers policy suggestions pertaining to TDS laws.
