After April 1, 2021, all registered NGOs must submit a Form 10A request for re-validation within three months. This type of revalidated registration is only good for five years. A minimum of six months before the validity period is set to expire is required for the submission of the application for the renewal of registration (after five years). Form No. 10AB will be used to submit the application for renewal.

No concurrent advantages for NGOs under Sections 12A and 10 (23C) (As amended by Finance Act, 2020)

Any organisation that had its registration become inoperative due to simultaneous exemptions under many other sections [10(23C)] must reapply in accordance with section 12AB in that situation. The registration is valid for five years and must be renewed every five. At least six months before the registration expires, the application must be filed.

Modification of the NGOs' objectives clause (As amended by the Finance Act, 2020)

If after receiving the registration, an organization's goals change or are amended, that organisation must reapply for registration in accordance with section 12AB with the revised or altered goals.

Every five years, the registration must be renewed. It is valid for five years. Within 30 days of the change in goals, the registration application must be submitted.

Issuance of the Registration certificate or order of rejection

The PCIT or CIT shall issue a written order approving the application in Form No. 10AC and provide the applicants with a sixteen-digit alphanumeric Unique Registration Number (URN) upon receipt of the application under 10A. If necessary, the PCIT/CIT may also request more documentation from the applicant. Alternatively, they may decide to reject the application after giving the applicant a chance to be heard. Form No. 10AC will also be used to pass the rejection order. According to the new provisions of the legislation, as modified by the Finance Act 2020, the NGO's registration shall remain in effect.

After receiving an application under 10AB, the PCIT or CIT shall issue an order of registration, rejection, or cancellation in Form No. 10AD. If registration is allowed, the PCIT or CIT shall also issue a sixteen-digit alphanumeric number URN.

Additionally, in this instance, PCIT/CIT is allowed to request more information from the applicant in order to confirm the legitimacy of the trust or institution's operations and its adherence to any other laws now in effect that are crucial to achieving its objectives.
